Our student assistants are an integral part of SCoRE and contribute to our work in so many different ways—from supporting research and community partnerships to managing communications and engaging the Georgia Tech community. We’re excited to introduce you to the students who help make our work possible and share a little more about their interests, experiences, and the work they’re doing at SCoRE.

Cassandra Ekwegwo (City and Regional Planning)

Cassandra Ekwegwo

Cassandra Ekwegwo is a second-year Master of City and Regional Planning student who has lived in many places and spent her formative years in Hong Kong. As a Graduate Research Assistant at SCoRE, Cassandra’s work focuses on finding ways to make community-engaged research (CER) a more integrated part of how Georgia Tech conducts research. This semester, she has focused on bringing CER into the Institutional Review Board (IRB) process by supporting what she calls an “IRB task force,” which examines where IRB procedures and community partnerships intersect. Cassandra is especially drawn to this work because, unlike traditional academic research that often ends with a paper, her work has the opportunity to influence how the university engages with the people and communities it works with. She values the emphasis on community voices, reciprocity, shared decision-making, and ownership, and enjoys playing an active role in creating institutional change. Through SCoRE, Cassandra has learned more about the systems that support research at Georgia Tech and how the principles of community-engaged research can translate into practical guidance. She has also developed skills in turning ideas into action and managing multiple projects at once while working with people who bring different backgrounds and perspectives to the work. Outside of SCoRE, Cassandra enjoys reading, dancing, and people watching.

Anointed Enahoro (Computer Science)

Sariah Fernando

Anointed Enahoro is a first-year Computer Science student from Douglasville, Georgia, who was born in Nigeria. With previous experience in web development, Anointed was excited to join SCoRE as the Website Manager, where she primarily works on updating the SCoRE website. One of her first highlights was making her first website update. Although she had never used Drupal before, she was able to learn the platform and immediately apply her new skills to her work. Since joining SCoRE, Anointed has gained additional experience with WordPress and Drupal while also developing her communication and collaboration skills. She has especially enjoyed learning how to share ideas, work with others, and navigate a professional office environment. Outside of school and SCoRE, Anointed enjoys watching movies, reading, and playing Roblox!

Sariah Fernando (Mechanical Engineering)

Sariah Fernando

Sariah Fernando is a first-year Mechanical Engineering student who is originally from Sri Lanka and moved to the United States about four years ago. While engineering is her primary field of study, Sariah wanted to explore something outside of her rigorous coursework and learn more about sustainability. She found the opportunity through Federal Work-Study and quickly became excited about SCoRE’s work and the people she would meet along the way. As a Student Assistant, Sariah works with the Partnerships team to coordinate events and support partnership-related activities. Her role has given her experience handling information, reviewing literature, and working with data. Outside of school and work, Sariah loves arts and crafts (something she has been told she is quite good at!) She also enjoys music and playing the piano.

Yoshi Garcia (Industrial and Systems Engineering)

Yoshi Garcia

Yoshi Garcia is a third-year Industrial and Systems Engineering major from Douglasville, Georgia. Her parents are from Honduras, and outside of her work at SCoRE, she is a big fan of PopUp Bagels! Yoshi’s interest in sustainability comes from both her academic experiences and her personal background. As part of Georgia Tech’s Grand Challenges LLC, she explored the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the role individuals can play in creating a more sustainable future. Growing up in a diverse community with many low-income individuals also gave her a personal understanding of some of the financial challenges faced by communities experiencing environmental injustice. Now, as a Student Assistant with SCoRE, Yoshi works with the Southeast Community Energy Futures Academy (SCEFA) team and Dr. Womack to increase access to sustainable resources. Although she is new to the role, she has already be gun learning about emerging energy technologies and the factors that need to be considered when bringing these technologies to communities that need them most.

Avishai Harris (Civil Engineering)

Avishai Harris

Avishai Harris is a fifth-year Civil Engineering student from Philadelphia, where she lived until high school. While Civil Engineering is her field of study, her favorite area of study is philosophy. At SCoRE, Avishai serves as both a Student Manager and a Student Assistant with the Southeast Community Energy Futures Academy (SCEFA). In her work with SCEFA, she creates project management deliverables to document the program’s work and develops resources for SCEFA participants and others interested in the technologies and programs being explored. As a Student Manager, Avishai also analyzes student feedback and works to improve the student work environment. One of her favorite aspects of working with SCEFA has been gaining new perspectives on community engagement and seeing what cross-sectoral collaboration can look like. Through her work at SCoRE, Avishai has learned how to take initiative, learn from others, and understand how coalitions of people can come together to advocate for positive change. Outside of SCoRE, Avishai’s favorite hobby is gardening!

Subin Lee (Computer Science)

Subin Lee

Subin Lee is a Computer Science student from Virginia and a self-described polyglot. As SCoRE’s Marketing and Communications Coordinator, she works on newsletters, social media, and infographic design. Since joining SCoRE, one of her first highlights in the role has been sending out her first newsletter, and she is looking forward to preparing her second! The experience has given Subin the opportunity to strengthen her skills in creating polished, professional content, organizing information, and communicating with a broader audience.

Annie Lin (Environmental Science)

Annie Lin

Annie Lin is a third-year Environmental Science major and a lifelong Atlanta resident. Growing up near the Chattahoochee River sparked her interest in environmental issues. Annie first became connected with the Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (RCE) in 2023, when she presented research she had conducted in high school at the RCE Americas Regional Conference at Georgia Tech. Today, she serves as SCoRE’s Georgia Tech Student Engagement and Network Coordinator. In this role, she engages Georgia Tech students in the Sustainable Development Goals and organizes network-wide meetings for the RCE. One of her favorite experiences so far has been helping plan the Fall 2025 quarterly meeting at BE on Edgewood. Annie especially enjoys the opportunity to learn from members throughout the RCE network, an experience that has helped her become a more confident communicator and event planner.

Julia Na ( Economics)

Julia Na

Julia Na is a second-year Economics major from Alpharetta, Georgia. Before transferring to Georgia Tech, she attended the University of San Francisco, where she became involved with startups and developed an interest in entrepreneurship. She hopes to run her own business one day. As a Partnerships Assistant, Julia supports the PFAS and G-CERP projects by helping prepare for meetings and developing project materials. She has enjoyed learning more about the community and the work being done to advance sustainability. Her work with SCoRE has also given her the opportunity to strengthen her collaboration skills by working with others to complete projects and prepare for meetings (skills she knows will be valuable in the future.) Outside of school, Julia enjoys volleyball, pickleball, baking, and movies. She is also double-jointed!

Saanvi Singla (Architecture)

Saanvi

Saanvi Singla is a fourth-year Architecture major from Chandigarh, India. She loves traveling and seeking out new experiences, particularly through exchange programs and other immersive opportunities. One of her most memorable experiences was working on a rammed-earth construction homestay in the Himalayas. Saanvi’s connection to SCoRE began through the Building with Communities VIP, where she became fascinated by the Center’s work. She has since experienced SCoRE from several perspectives: as a VIP student, a full-time student assistant, and now a part-time student assistant. As SCoRE’s Marketing and Communications Student Manager, Saanvi oversees the SCoRE and RCE newsletters and social media while also contributing to design strategy projects such as Assessment Storytelling and campaign design. She particularly enjoys the intersection of design, communications, and strategy and has developed a greater understanding of how systems thinking can inform design. Her work has also strengthened her strategic planning and presentation skills, connecting directly to her academic and professional interest in understanding spatial experience through the lens of consultancy. Outside of SCoRE, Saanvi enjoys learning new forms of calligraphy, practicing Kathak, an Indian classical dance form, and taking color walks along the Atlanta BeltLine.

She supports students in the VIP class, provides information about opportunities, evaluates their work, and serves as a go-to person for other Partnerships Student Assistants when they need help. Delorna was drawn to the role because she enjoys working with community partners to create more sustainable environments and help organizations achieve their goals. One of the highlights of her experience has been being part of the SCoRE and BBISS teams, where she has found a positive and supportive office community while having opportunities to explore her interests and grow professionally. Along the way, she has developed skills in design, marketing and content creation, professional communication, and connecting with people from across the sustainability sector. Outside of SCoRE, Delorna enjoys taking care of her plants, bowling, and archery.
