Description
Georgia Tech has a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise that can support the building of a local food system that values local farmers, centers sustainable agricultural practices in the face of climate change, and enhances food security for our city and more broadly for the Southeast region. To advance this work, BBISS and SCoRE are growing partnerships with local food and agriculture organizations in and around metro Atlanta, as well as some in rural Georgia, to identify potential research projects of collective interest to faculty and partners. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):

- Atlanta food system network mapping: Creating an interactive network map of local food organizations in Atlanta
- Visualizing and mapping food flows across Atlanta: Tracking food flows and food access points, and identifying new source points for surplus foods and urban agriculture
- Environmental sensing and data dashboards to support farmers and climate action: Exploring projects related to environmental sensing and data sharing platforms for farmers
- Support for food rescue and redistribution organizations: Improving logistics, developing impact tracking models to facilitate decision making, and improving data sharing between organizations
